Information Technology (IT) is one of the principal tools of transferring information across the world. Now-a-days, all the human activities are being affected by IT. Hence, agricultural sector like other economic sectors of the society is severely affected by IT. IT plays many different important roles in human life such as improving access to modern knowledge, achieving economic opportunities and enhancing social participation which are all highly considered by extension systems. The present study was conducted to analyze factors affecting use of information technology in agricultural extension in Gilan province. The statistical population of the study consisted of 472 extension officials working in Gilan province out of which, 203 people were selected as sample using proportionate stratified random sampling technique. The data were gathered by a questionnaire developed for the study. The results revealed that there was a negative significant relationship between knowledge of extension officials on IT and their ages. In addition there was a positive significant relationship between their education level and their knowledge on IT. The findings indicated that there were positive significant relationships between IT application by extension officials with variables such as competency in English language, education level and extension official attitude towards IT. The findings also indicated that the female and male extension officials had significant different level of IT application in extension activities. |
