After the collapse of the Soviet Union, new threates emerged in Central Asia and Caucasus in the north of Iran. But, in spite of the Fact that theoretical evidence anticipates the presence of Iran in central Asia Regional Security Complex, Iran is not officially the member of any of security arrangements in this region.
The main question this thesis addresses in this regard is: why is Iran not officially the member of any of the security arrangements of central Asia?
In this work three hypotheses are presented as possible answers to the question.
1- The effect of the structure of the International system;
2- The effect of regional balance of power;
3- Different perceptions of sources of threats.
Considering the first two hypotheses, it is argued that the International system structure has no decisive role and the regional balance of power has no effect on this issue, Studying the main hypothesis shows that Iran and central Asia leaders different Perceptions of threat Sources impede the presence of Iran in these regional Security arrangements. |
